How I "review"
I read and review because I love discovering great stories and new authors, and spreading the word to fellow bibliophiles.
I aim to write fair, honest, and balanced "reviews." I am not a professional reviewer and thus my write-ups are my personal impressions/thoughts/opinions about the book, the subject matter, and how I personally connect or relate.
Note that my acceptance of your book means that it is for review consideration. I cannot guarantee a review nor can I guarantee a positive review. If you are unable to accept a potential "negative" review in the blogosphere, please do not contact me.
Genres accepted
I will willingly accept anything on my To Be Read List.
Please also check my the Book Reviews list to get a sense of what genres I typically read and enjoy.
I will consider reviewing the following:
- Modern and contemporary fiction, including literary fiction, historical fiction, translated works, chick lit, and some Young Adult books.
- Immigrant stories, stories set in Asia, and cross-cultural stories.
- Unique books like pop-up books, graphic novels, and illustrated children's books.
- Non-fiction, specifically memoirs, self-help books, travel reads, foodie reads (cookbooks or food-related memoirs), and crafting or art/design books.
Genres NOT accepted
- I DO NOT accept erotica, romances with overtly sexual book covers, Young Adult fiction in the paranormal genre, or Christian fiction/non-fiction.
- I generally do not accept anything that is overly political or religious but make some exceptions. Please contact me to check.
Other notes
- I DO NOT review on demand. If you expect a review within a certain period of time, please let me know and I will see if I can accommodate, otherwise it goes on my TBR and I read and review at random or as the mood strikes.
- I accept ONLY PHYSICAL COPIES for review (paperback, hardcovers and ARCs). Take note for mailing purposes I am based in Canada. I do not return review copies.
- I DO NOT accept e-books for review. I don't have an e-reader and I don't read PDFs on the computer. Please DO NOT send me free links to your e-books, attach PDFs or give me codes to Smashwords because I'll simply delete them.
- I oftentimes cross-post on my social media accounts, including Goodreads, Twitter and Facebook. If I am keen about the book, I will also post on Amazon.com. I cannot guarantee cross-posting for all books.
- I always indicate that I received the copy of the book from the author or publisher in order to be totally transparent with my readers.
- I reserve the right to decide how to dispose of review copies. Rest assured that I usually pass them on to other readers or I donate to them to charities.
